WCIT 2008 - A Business Proposal
Welcome to delegates of World Congress on Information Technology 2008 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since some of delegates are looking for business opportunities in Malaysia, may I suggest the following as resident of Kuala Lumpur for the past few years
Business proposal : Malaysia Metro Wireless Broadband Service.
This service will provide quality broadband service to residential areas in urban centres of Malaysia, e.g. Kuala Lumpur, Georgetown. Initial goals of the service
- 99% uptime with free dial-up service
- 300kbps download speed from US servers for 95% of time
SWOT analysis
- Currently the major broadband service provider in these urban centres is Streamyx, a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia
- In addition, some broadband users feel the pains more than others and are willing to spend more on a quality broadband service provider.
- Not only there is an existing demand for broadband service, demand will be greater in near future due to change in politics of Malaysia
- In case the new player cannot get a license, collaboration with a smaller broadband service provider is always a possibility.
- Content distributors and portals, consider using broadband service bundling as a marketing strategy, e.g. provide bundled broadband service so that more Internet-based products and services can be consumed similar to subsidised cell/mobile phone used by telcos.
. However not everyone receive/perceive quality broadband service. Here is an opportunity : an itch waiting to be scratched.
