I am a little surprise(before Malaysia 12th General Election, it would be a big surprise) to learn that Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia, has his own blog now. The reason for the little surprise is Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has a lot of access to mainstream media to voice his opinions, e.g. newspapers, TV programs, forums. I am sure his followers who do not have broadband service will spend more time online from now onwards. For those who are in Internet ecosystem, the increasing demand for broadband service is a great news. As a heavy Internet users(online for an average of 10 hours) in Malaysia for the past few years, I certainly welcome an important person like Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to experience quality of broadband service in Malaysia. Since Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s blog is hosted by Google at California, USA, I am sure Internet Service Provider cannot use best effort as a ‘reason’ when the broadband speed between Malaysia and USA is dropped below 100kbps. Anyway, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, welcome to blogsphere. If you feel quality of broadband service in Malaysia has a lot of rooms for improvement, may be you can ask Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission how it enforces broadband quality of service. One of the requirements is Internet Service Provider must maintain 70% of subscribed rate for 95% of time, e.g. 700kbps for 1Mbps plan.
