The editor of sgentrepreneurs.com, a blog for Singapore entrepreneurs, has posted an entry that it is being sold to Techcrunch, a US-based technology and startup blog, for USD 50,000. At first, I believe the ‘news’. Then I find it fishy. Some of the reasons are
- The entry is created in the early hours of April Fool’s day.
- While Singapore government would like to see more entrepreneurs in Singapore, but the reality is entrepreneurship is still not mainstream for most residents of Singapore. If Techcrunch were to acquire another website, it is more likely the site would serve customers from Europe.
- There is no similar post in Techcrunch website.
If the ‘news’ is a April Fool’s joke, what is the role of practical joke in business relationship building? Building closer and more personal relationship?
